Sheffield's Finest

You can't be a student in Sheffield without knowing the best places to get greasy food after a night out.
What it comes down to is Division Street or West Street?

What Division Street has to offer:
Unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of chippies in Sheffield's city centre, but we do have Devonshire Chip Shop (aka Dev Chippy)
one of the best deals around...£1.90 for a battered sausage, chips and a choice of curry sauce/gravy/mushy peas/ketchup/mayo - absolute bargain! And, although, admittedly every time i have had this delicacy i have been inebriated, it was delicious. However, this can't be said for everything they sell. Two of my flatmate's post-night out preferred food choice is onion rings; unfortunately Dev Chippy's aren't up to scratch, they are too greasy and don't have enough onion in. The pies are rather soggy and the fish doesn't look exactly 'fresh'. So, i would say pop in for the deal, but don't get too adventurous.
“It’s a good drunk chippy but not where I’d get my tea from”

For fish & chip lovers people have recommended "the chips from Taplin Road, the one near Grahams Tyres and the chippy by the Wednesday ground is nice too".

Right next door to Dev Chippy is Merdoc's - THE kebab shop. Best known for its incredible lamb donner kebabs; for £4 (kebab and chips) you can a lot more than bargained for - with kebab that fills and almost spills over both parts of the larger polystyrene tray!
I have had Merdoc kebabs many a time, along with every member of my flat. They are the post-night out kebabs to end all post-night out kebabs!
WARNING: THE CHILLI SAUCE IS NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. It will literally blow your socks off.
I would personally give Merdoc's the award for Best Kebab In Sheffield.

<--- An example of a Merdoc's Kebab (with my flat-mate cropped out to preserve her dignity, as eating one of these bad boys is hardly sexy/lady-like)

Also...Pizza’s 2-4-1 from £7 taste almost as good as dominoes but at half the price it doesn’t seem like such a bad deal.

West Street's range of fine foods:
Askabans (Now i can't quite remember if this is its actual name or if it was one we came up with as a flat. Either way it's on the corner opposite The Cavendish pub on West Street)

Really nice employees. Have been known to hand out free chips for nips ;) for all the ladies who seem to leave their class behind when they go on a night out. You can barter with the guys to get extra meat and chips without flashing, however, as they're a nice bunch.
I would recommend the cheesy chips - good cheese that's actually melted over the chips rather than grated over the top.

Popeyes
Right next door to Askaban's and is always a tough decison as to which to go to. Anything to do with chicken here is good - especially their version of a Zinger Burger. My flat mate also always raves about the chicken nuggets; the price, the taste and the ammount. They certainly don't rip you off. The lunch time deals are also a bargain and a good hangover cure. Nevertheless, a friend of a friend did get food poisoning from here once...

That one opposite West Street Live
I have no recollection of the night i went there but it came up to meet me the next morning. I would not advise going here after a night out, throwing up all day from food poisoning on top of a hangover is not a pleasant experience. My course mate also got food poisoning, so it's number one to AVOID.
